Your Nano Brow Aftercare

What to do, what to avoid, and what’s normal while you heal.

This is normal

Your nano brows will look darker, sharper, and bolder at first. That’s normal. Machine-created hair strokes soften as the skin heals, and some areas may look lighter or patchy during healing. Don’t judge your results until your touch-up, 6–12 weeks from your appointment.

Daily care (days 1–10)

  • Day 1: every hour for the first few hours, gently blot your brows with a clean, damp cotton pad to lift lymph (clear fluid). Don’t let it dry and harden on the skin.

  • Morning and night: wash your hands, then gently cleanse your brows with clean fingertips, water, and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Rinse lightly and pat dry with a clean paper towel. No rubbing.

  • After cleansing: apply a rice-grain-sized amount of your aftercare balm with a clean cotton swab, spread thin. Too much ointment suffocates the skin and pulls out pigment.

  • Sleep on your back on a clean pillowcase if you can. Change it the first night.

Avoid (days 1–10)

Picking, scratching, or peeling flakes

Pulls pigment out and causes patchy or scarred spots. Let flakes fall off on their own.

Soaking your brows

No swimming, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, or long hot showers. Keep your face out of the shower stream.

Heavy sweating

Skip intense workouts and hot yoga. Sweat lifts pigment and carries bacteria.

Makeup, skincare, or sunscreen on the brows

Keep all products off the treated area. The rest of your face is fine.

Direct sun and tanning beds

UV fades fresh pigment and can change its color. Wear a hat outdoors.

Retinol, acids, and exfoliants near the brows

Retin-A, glycolic, AHA/BHA, and scrubs. Keep them off your brows for at least 4 weeks.

Facials, peels, laser, Botox, brow tinting or waxing

Wait until after your touch-up, or at least 4 weeks.

Healing timeline

Days 1–3

Dark, bold, sharp. Mild redness, tenderness, or swelling.

Days 4–10

Itching and light flaking. Brows may look patchy as flakes come off. Don’t pick.

Days 10–21

The “ghosting” phase. Strokes can look faint or almost gone. New skin is hazy over the pigment.

Weeks 4–6

Color returns and settles to its true, softer shade.

Weeks 6–12

Touch-up window. We fill gaps, adjust shape, and deepen color if needed.

After you heal

  • Wear sunscreen on your brows daily once fully healed. Sun is the #1 reason brows fade early.

  • Keep retinol and acid products off your brows. They speed up fading and can shift the color.

  • Tell any laser, IPL, or facial provider about your cosmetic tattoo before they treat near your brows.

  • Book a color boost every 12–24 months to keep shape and color crisp. Oily skin may need it sooner.

When to see a doctor

Some redness and tenderness in the first 2–3 days is normal. Contact a doctor if you notice:

  • Redness, swelling, heat, or pain that gets worse after day 3

  • Yellow or green discharge, pus, or a bad smell

  • Fever, chills, or red streaks spreading from the area

  • Hives, a raised itchy rash, or swelling beyond the brows

Then let us know so we can note it in your file. Your artist is not a medical provider and can’t diagnose or treat infections.

Book your touch-up for 6–12 weeks out.

After 12 weeks, maintenance pricing applies. Questions while you heal? Reply to your appointment text.
